Race Day Info : Bikes : Motocross / Trail Bikes etc need to use Tyres orientated towards Road Tread Patterns, ie Tyres Catalogued by the manufacturer for 50% or greater Road Use. No MX Tyres Please. Motard Bikes as per GCR’s, Slicks / Wets and variations of, are permitted. Basicly all Bikes should be in safe working condition with the following also done : The usual wiring of Sump Plugs and Water only in the cooling system is a must. A small catch bottle for the Radiator overflow tube is also required. If your removing Handle Bars Grips at any time, Plug the Bar ends while your there. Handguards......Open ended styles are the best, if you need them at all, People look funny with 2 broken wrists and it's pretty hard to wipe ya own ass! Gearing Hints . . . McNamara Park's Short Circuit is fast-ish compared to most Motard Tracks. Simon is running 15 / 40 on the Stealthy YZ250 2 stroke, and an ex 500cc Champ is running 15/40 on his Barry Francis Motorcycles / Stealth CR 250 R6 so I guess similar on most strokers. The WRF's YZF's CRF's would probably be about 15 / 44, CRFx 14/42, XR400 about 15 / 40, KTM's and most Euro bikes seem to already have pretty tall gearing so maybe up 1 or 2 on the front might do the job. Person : Enter on the Track Day or on the Race Day, One event MA license and Membership available on the day. One Event Motorcycling Australia Competition License $44.00 (Race Days Only) M.A. Rider Levy $10.00 (Race Days) Entry Fee $60.00 Riders need aged 16 years and older and be Fit & Drug Free. You need a Helmet in good nick with it's1698 sticker, Leathers ( Race Days ), Boots (Road or Dirt), Gloves and Back protector. If your real trendy, you could also wear the special Motard Suits. Track : ( click on the Motard Track pic at the top of this page ) 1.8Km of McNamara Park's Road Circuit with a section of approx 200 meters being the natural dirt on the property. We are hopeful of making a low flat Ski Jump sometime soon in the new Dirt Section near the Finish area. The new Dirt Section was well received on the Sept 30 Race Day by all but one rider, so apart from the normal Maintenance of dragging it back flat mixing the fine gravel back into the natural clay, all looks pretty good. Many thanks to Allan " the Landscaper ", Barney and Travis, for their help in updating this section. Even from the opposite side of the track, we could see heaps of Tyre smoking skidz as the riders turn off the bitumen surface. With us settling on this New Dirt section, it is hopeful to make Low Ramp Style Jump as soon as time/weather/funds permit. As showed on the September 30 Race Day, both officials and McNamara Park are flexible enough to run on either the All Bitumen Track or include the actual Dirt Section which makes the Motard Track. The rain came in on the "A" Final with us electing to go back to all Bitumen which suited most riders. The "B" Final was run including the Dirt and drying track which also suited most of that groups riders. Racing : Practice and First Round of Heat Races, Pole Position etc will be in order of Entry from all riders, so enter with your mates and you get the first three rides together depending on the grouping cutoff. Riders will be grouped based on performance in Heat Races then progressively resorted to match their finishing times. Your BEST " finishing time " from ALL heats will grid you for the Finals. Might pay to think about this a bit if you get a " damp heat ", and your keen to get into the Finals. So if you rock up on a DRZ250 with stock wheels and worried about running with expensive looking Motards, you still get to beat 'em if their skills are down a bit. Top riders end up in a Final going for the Trophy's and "other Awards", next group do a Consolation Race for even more "other Awards". Heat Races will comprise of approximately 6 to 9 riders and 4 Laps, depending on the overall number of entry’s on the day. A Consolation event for the rest will be held to ensure all riders get a possible 6 or more Rides on the day. One Bike One Rider ie No Sharing of machines
