excuse our typo's, Trish doesn't fix up the crap we write, latest info uppermost Anyone remember Tony Kirby's Adventure Ride across Australia's widest points coast to coast ? Four and a half days, via the Simpson, Byron to Steep Point. Those DVD Motorbiking making fellas are having another attempt at breaking TK's efforts next week-ish on none other than a DR650 ! Last attempt on the big KTM's ran them short of Tyres after melting them on the bitchy section.
If you don't mind forum reading, you can follow the goings on at the ADVrider thread

Naracoorte Motorcycle Club South East of South Australia 3KM's South of Naracoorte on the Mount Gambier Rd Contacts, Damon Stringer 0429 698 663 Website
The Club has a Family Day on this Sunday the 18th April, start time about 9.30 / 10ish
13/4/09 We had a few visitors over Easter keen on a look at a few of the Sinkholes in the area. Anyone reading this from away and keen to do some back road exploring on bikes, we can set up a "Tour De Sinkholes" tour no probs for small groups for visitors to the Mt. Gambier area. Get a group together n give us a yell here via the Contact Form
4/4/09 ARMS Stealth Suspension gets a mention at http://www.formula-xtreme.com.au/ in a series of cartoon articles written by pmac, we sole a copy of this one that we posted here courtesy of Pmac and the Sonnex Race Team 27/3/09 A couple of weeks back we heard the francesfolkgathering.com.au was on so thought it a great excuse to head out for a ride. Only been to Francis once in my life on the way to the desert, there was no one there that day, not even in the pub so it was worth a look to see if anyone else turns up besides the 'ol girl n me. The nets a great thing for us Adventure Riders, we google in a route which basicly kept us on a due north heading following the Border on back roads, thus providing a most enjoyable and different ride, no traffic at all really, not even any wildlife. It took us about 2.5 Hrs to get to the best place in Francis, turns out there were one or two others there having a great time. It was actually a big turnout with the Show grounds full of happy campers and their instruments. If your looking for an excuse to get out and about, I can thoroughly recommend a day out croozing to one of these events. Trish quietly ponders the long road home. 15/2/09 We've been doing a few both Back Road Adventure Rides and Road Runs lately in small groups, Pubs have been hi on the priority for watering holes, not to mention the infamous "Dartmoor Burger", sheez a whopper and well worth the try, gossip also has it the "Waterfall Gardens near Dartmoor is operating again, so those on the backs roads up from the River have another place to pop into on a round trip. We've been encouraging others to hop in and set up rides via the forum, but everyones a bit shy I think, so looks like we better stick to the emails and see if we get any takers that way. Desert Ride > Since egg dragged me out to the Lil Desert etc a couple of years ago, i've been keen to return, there's a couple keen for a weekend Tour and a casual "Slow looking about" Adventure Riding style. We have an accommodation / parking base in mind ( Bunks are about 30.00 ) Possible weekends are July 3-5th ( Hattah Desert Race ) or 11 & 12th ( Nhill Pony Express ) I have never been to the Hattah event so would be keen to Drop in for a look via a Desert Ride. Anyone keen on joining in, click on > Contacts & Links 9/1/09 As a "mature aged hoon" it pisses me no end to read about the young peoples donating their vehicles / money to the State coffers though acts of "trying to enhance their driving / riding skills". We have two of the greatest assets in our area where we can all "let our hair down" with no fines and you get to keep your vehicles when your finished. For Riders it's MacPark, where on the last Sat of most months you can pretty much get unlimited Ride Time depending on numbers, we strongly recommend getting out for a look if you've never been to a McNamara Park Ride Day. Click > McNamara Park for Ride Day Info For Riders & Car peoples who like to create Tyre Smoke I can't tell you in words how much fun the South Coast Raceway is at Portland Vic. You can pretty much run anything as long as it safe to operate and doesn't leak any fluids. They Run Friday nights for the Burnouts n stuff followed by Racing on the Saturday which is even more burnouts n stuff. The Racing is handicap so any one at all has a chance of a win, HP doesn't matter, and I generally like the part where we do the smokies. Click Drags or see the Calendar for the Dates Aaron on the GS1000 ARMS on the YZ250 Motard Gav foxing on the GSXR1100
MacPark Riders, your first Ride Day may cost something like 120.00 inc Membership / License / Track Hire etc, then something like 80.00 per Ride Day after that. Drags cost roughly 70.00 for the Race day all inclusive.
Both venues are HEAPS CHEAPER than getting busted on the Roads
and you will be a heaps better Rider / Driver after being involved in such events in a controlled environment Posted 2/11/08 We had a great turn out of riders for our recent Adventure Ride on the "Pink Ribbon Day". The "Road Crew" Left Lady Nelson and headed to Dartmoor Pub for lunch via Nelson / Drik Drik etc. The "Adventure Riders" left Elders on Punt Road an hour earlier . . . We headed out via Caroline Forest down the River Fire Line Road for our first break at Sandy Water Holes, from there it was only a matter of 100 meters before our Second Break, turns out the 'ol white metal wasn't as grippy as first thought with Rob doing the 'ol Flip Flop and over the Hangers trick on the DRZ400, resulting in a small break in his Hand and a very sore ankle, hopefully by the time Rob reads this, he'll be looking forward to the next Adventure Ride. Next stop was the Dartmoor Pub where we dampened the tonsils with a few cokes, it was a bit of a struggle finding a Park, i just slipped the DRZ up against the wall, if ya look closely you'll see Pete and I chatting up the Girls, just look for the reflections in the pic. The Dartmoor Pub is a great place for a Pit Stop, include it on ya next ride. From Dartmoor it was on to Digby via a top Ride through the Crawford River area . . . there ain't much happening at Digby these days, it's our second time there and no fuel in the bowser! We parked under the Trees and struggled through the crowd for another Coke.
From Digby we croozed on to Myaring Bridge
Area and back to
the Mount Via the back roads, we did some 240 odd Km's depending
on who's speedo ya looked at, another top day out
Remember Boy Scouts moto . . . . "Be Prepared", if we get a few wet days, we'll head out again. Many thanks for the "Smith's Mobile Pics" . . .
12/8/08 Things have been a bit busy lately at arms
HQ. Good news was a couple of weeks ago Adrian Fitzgerald
competed at the Australian Off Road Championships on his CRF250X
with a
Stealth
re-engineered rear Showa Shock to knock off one of the countries
all time greats Geoff Ballard by some 30 seconds after 8 or 9
Special Tests over 2 Days of competition....... were pretty
stoked over that we can tell ya.
6/7/08 Went for a bit of a low key crooz with the tribe on Sat aft which was organized through the Forum, she was a pretty good day on the weather with a fresh Northerly breeze, so we decided ta head South to PortMac for a nice warm coffee. Saddling up, Mom keeps an eye on her offspring, have a look at this mischievous looking pair. We didn't get far outta Pt.Mac when we struck a bit of bother, Trish was suggestive about what Rod could do with this bit. We motored on to Donavons n back to the Mt. Thanks to Rod, the Cows stayed well away from the fences and we never saw a Kangaroo all day :) Mom says this was the best lookin bike on the ride . . . 7/6/08 Elliot's Big Ride . . . included Mount Gambier . . . Tony Kirby and Tony Tevoret rode right round the South Australian Border raising dollars for Kids with Cancer, they stopped off at the Cave Gardens for a Barby more pics : TK chatting to egg " Bloody 'ell mate, she's a bit cold down here" The Terrible Trio TK Egg N Grantly 14/4/08 Barney's annual Halls Gap Ride got a little interupted by a good rain which moved in Friday evening, and depending on where ya was.....all Friday night. Lucky for Trish and I, we managed to be riding along next to it during Friday, Paul n Trudy trailered up in the rain so they were right too and Peter & Kathleen rode up on Sat morning also missing the rain....good timing all round. Just got a couple of pics as we were too busy enjoying the ridin . . . Trish threatens to throw my bike down a big hole after taking her up a dirt road for an hour n a half . . . Unbelievable country . . . this must has taken heaps of skill . . . Trish wondering what the f%&^ 'i'm up to . . . Trish after 2 hours floggin up a gravel road to get here . . . pondering the map for more dirt roads. not all me mates could make it . . . All good fun and can't wait till the next run We have had a couple of good rides lately around the district, first one was the Dergholm run (first pic here where Trish shows the Harley how to get round corners........ and the others were taken at the Halls Gap Run) Great riding country up there and well worth the trip 4/12/07 Doug Francis hands over a nice new Suzuki GSXR1000 for Christmas. We'll have ta get Barney to keep us posted on how she goes . . . If the ride back from Hamilton was anything to go by . . . awesome machine. 27/10/07 Got a few happy snaps from last Saturdays Road Ride up to Dergholm and back from the Mount. We had a "sensible" group, although there was the odd smell of burning rubber from time to time, isn't it funny how ya just cant seem to wear old tyres out.....still working on that one. It doesn't matter where you take Trish, she seems to be cleaning - cleaning and cleaning BBJ follows a great example We had 11 Bikes 1 Charade and 1 Doggy turn up Got told not to publish this Pic or he'd do a Burnout on my Testicles This is a typical Adventure Trail Ride we do around the district : posted 17/6/06 Chris E took us for his farewell adventure ride last weekend around the western district's of victoria. We covered some 270 odd km's with 8 riders, most of whom were on Suzuki's would you believe! It was a great ride but one thing was a little surprising.......not if your a farmer........is how dry it looks out there....we even had some dust on a few of the sections. Anyway we got a few pics of the ride ..... chris fillin up at dartmoor ........ egg keeping the wildlife at bay ...... grantly chasing a snake ...... but that's ok coz he was only playing with hiscock ...... the boys coming down from the big hill ...... drink time ...... chris g talking crap (see over his left shoulder) ...... and ...... nothin like a country pub ......this last pic wasn't working for some reason.......more head scratchin......but now she does !
